Connecting your xperia to 3G data networks will dry your battery very soon. I have experienced the battery went down in just 2 hours after unplugging from the charger! Ericsson themself, suggest to switch off wireless, 3G etc when not in use. If you have wireless as well as 3G option, go for wireless. Here is the way how to disable your 3G network when not in use.
Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Network Mode
select GSM Only
This will disable your data transfer!
Apparently selection to ‘GSM Only’ still leave 2G data traffic on.
In my case, I prefer to turn off Data traffic ;
Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Data traffic
Turn it on again whenever you need it, it did save me my minutes 🙂
Better to turn off the data – irrelavent of GSM or WCDMA for voice
Hi. I was looking for the setting “GSM only” to turn off the 3G but I can only ban 2G network which leaves 3G on. There is no option to turn 3G off, do I have an old firmware of what? I’m on 3 btw.Thanks
